What are the requirements for NSU's Online Educator Certification?

Individuals earn certification by successfully completing two courses, the Online Educator Certification Courses Parts 1 and 2 (OEC 1 and OEC 2). All faculty who teach online or blended courses must be Part 1 should have been certified by January 2014 and Part 2 certified by September 2014, according to the NSU Online Educators Certificate Policy.

Who is required to take these courses?

These courses are required for anyone who teaches any online or blended courses at NSU, and recommended for anyone who teaches at NSU or manages an organization's Blackboard.

I already completed one or both of the Quality Matters courses. Do I still have to earn NSU's Online Educator Certification?

Yes. All faculty who teach online or blended courses must complete NSU's Online Educator Certification. Those faculty who are interested in serving as online mentors or reviewers may also complete the optional Quality Matters Applying the Rubric training.

Can anyone enroll in these courses, or are they limited to faculty?

Anyone who teaches or works at NSU is welcome to take these courses. However, priority will be given to those who are scheduled to teach online or blended courses in the coming semester.
